Adams Family Visit 2009 July 26-Aug 2

So I called this the trip of 2009 hoping that my family will come every year. We had so much fun so now i am campaigning for the 2010 trip. Wesley was so excited to see Emily, Blake, and Grandma and Grandpa Adams. I don't think he really believed that they were coming until they showed up at the door and he got so excited. Bradley was a little nervous at first, crying for the first 15 minutes but then warmed up to all of them. We loved having them around but they were a little unlucky to come here to Portland when we where having breaking record heats (107F) and they lasted the whole time they were here. Which for all the Arizonians out there is nothing and a cooler day for the summer, but here in Portland where most places don't have air conditioning, it was really hot! We did end up buying a window air conditioner and my Dad set up all the fans we had to make the air flow best, which helped a little. We noticed that later in the week stores were selling out of fans and air conditioners. Glad we got ours when we did! The first day we decided because it was going to be one of the cooler days of the week (still really hot) we would go pick some berries so that we could eat them all week. We headed out to Sauvie Island Farms and picked 13 pounds of berries!!! They were gone in a few days though.

Then for the rest of the week to escape the heat we went to Tillamook Factory to eat ice cream (brad's 1st taste of ice cream) and Hug Beach....

(last week at the coast they found a great white shark so my first thought is my brother and sister could have been eaten-- they went way out into the freezing water)

We went to see the movie "UP!", swimming at our apartment pool, and played card games.Wesley was so excited to have Uncle Blake to climb trees and build trains and legos with him.

Also went to multnoma falls and played in the river.

We went shopping for school clothes (does it count even if i have been out of school for 5 years?) and to check out my favorite grocery store WinCo. It was hard to get Dad out of WinCo once we got there. We went 2 times while they were here.

(shopping for sunglasses)

On Saturday Orrin was finally able to join us in our adventures so we took a trip to Mt. Hood ( a place we had not been to yet). We first drove up to Timberline lodge. It was built in 1937 during the great depression and was built to create work for unemployed workers. Everything was made by hand including all the furniture inside. It was very cool looking even without snow around. Many movies have also filmed there. At the top of the Mt. there was still a little snow and a ski lift was still taking people up the Mt. to ski down. Then we went to skibowl resort to ride the alpine slides and play at the adventure park.

We had so much fun having family around. It just went by too fast. Wesley missed them a lot after they left. For the next few days every once and a while he would just start crying "Grandmaaaa! I want Grandma."

Party in the Park

Each year the Tualtin Hills Parks and Recreation puts on a "Party in the Park". It is a huge party all day and all free. This year the our stake had volunteered to be in charge of all the volunteering for the event so many members and missionaries from our ward an stake attended. It turned out to be a very hot day but we still had a blast.
Wes rode on a pony
played in bounce houses
and we checked out some cool cars (the radio flyer wagon is a street legal car!)

Wesley gives a talk in Primary

I was so proud of Wesley for giving his first talk in Primary!! The theme was "I can strengthen my family". We practiced all week and he did so great. He talked really quiet but you were still able to hear him if you listened really good. Orrin came in to help Wes. ( I am Wes's primary teacher so I get to sit with him every week.) I almost started to tear up a little watching him. Wow! I still can't believe I have a boy in primary.

2nd Year!

Last Friday we were able to attend Orrin's White Coat Ceremony. Which if you don't know... it is when a student reaches the patient care phase of their dental education. It marks the student's transition from the study of preclinical to clinical health sciences. So I would like to introduce you to "Student Doctor Mackey". Doesn't he make a Handsome Doctor.

Becoming a 2nd year means a lot of long nights in the simulation lab (where he is right now @11:30pm).

(The guy taking our picture was really tall. He had to look down with the camera. funny.)

They had the Dean, Associate Dean, and Pres of the Alumni Association speak and then the class of 2012 were each called up and were presented with their White Coat.

I got to see was Orrin receiving his coat but I had both boys with me by my self, it was during their nap time, and the room had no air conditioning so we didn't stay in the room very long. But we listened from outside.

We are very proud of him and all the hard work he has put into his 1st year of dental school! (and a few weeks into his 2nd)
Congratulations Orrin!

Blue Berry Addict

I have fallen in love with Blue Berries. Oregon blue berries are so amazing. I can't get enough. I have been eating them like crazy. I hope I don't turn out this way.

Fourth of July

For the Fourth of July we went to Tigard High School with some friends to watch a fireworks show. They had a lot of fun things to do while we waited for the show to start. They had face painting, a fire truck, sack races, and a helicopter flew in and landed on the field for everyone to check out. Wes now wants to be a helicopter pilot when he grows up.

The kids had a blast playing with glow sticks and getting blanket rides. The fireworks were great. Brad even watched the whole show and didn't even get scared. The most exciting part of the night was when we were in the parking lot waiting in a long line of cars to get out. Bradley was screaming so I hopped into the back with him. Then all of the sudden Brad and I got sprayed with this glowing green stuff. Wes had been playing with his glow sticks and broke it open and it sprayed all over us. I freaked out at first because I had no idea what it was. It was a funny ending to the night.

Fishing again

During Orrin's week off we took a family trip to Hornings Hideout to go fishing. It is such a beautiful and peaceful place. Wes had a blast fishing again.

It was so cute to watch him sit in his little chair and wait until he caught a fish and then real it in all by himself.

It was nice to have some peaceful family time outside. We caught two fish and Wes was so proud of them. So cute! He loves to fish. It was really fun for all of us but I had to remind Orrin that if we had girls we would be going to get pedicures for family outings.

Brad had some fun too!
