Our new life in Oregon

We have been here in Beaverton, Oregon (right outside Portland) for almost 3 weeks. It has been a whirlwind and we have been so busy for the last month. Moving was so much more work then I could even imagine, but we did it with the help of so many people. We loaded up the truck and Orrin left on the 22 hour trip with his brother Adam on August 1st. They took a few days to get all the way out here and was able to visit lots of family along the way.
Wesley and I got to spend some more time with family and friends before we left. We went with my brother (Blake) and sister (Emily)to Build A Bear because they wanted to get Wes a monkey with a little message from each of them. So when he pushes on the monkeys arms he can hear them and the message.
We flew up on August 6th which was our 4th wedding anniversary. Which is cool because on the exact date we get to start another 4 years of marriage here in Oregon. These last few weeks we have been so busy trying to get everything unpacked and getting settled here before Orrin starts school but we also took sometime to have fun. We went to $2 Tuesday at the Zoo...
We hiked around Multnomah Falls...

Took a train trip through the forest...

Picked black berries from our parking lot and made jam (they grow wild everywhere right now)...

And took a trip to the coast and played on the beach...

We kept hearing that the beach was really cold and to bring coats but when we got there is was so beautiful. We wish we had brought Wes's swim suit. The water was pretty cold but you could still go in it for a little while. The tide was so crazy there. We parked our blanket and coats and shoes about 50 feet away from the water. We were there for few hours then Orrin went to get lunch. While I was chasing after Wes to put on sunscreen I hear him yell "Mom, water is coming!" and he started to run. A huge wave had hit and covered our things with water. I started to scramble for the bag with the camera and our shoes as they headed on their way back to the ocean. Luckily the trip back to the ocean was still 50+ feet so everything else stopped on the beach about 10-20 feet away. I think that it was fun entertainment for some of the others on the beach to see a pregnant lady running like crazy on the beach. It happened to a few other families while we were there so i didn't feel so embarrassed. It was still a blast but next time I think we will be better prepared.
It has been so much fun spending time together before Orrin starts school on Monday and we will have to get back into a normal schedule.
