A Future American Idol

My most favorite person to listen to sing lately has been Wesley. Within the last few weeks he has started to sing songs. Before, all I would get are car sounds, dinosaurs and other animal sounds. But now every once and a while I get a song. I think it is so cute! It just melts my heart. But the best part of all is that his singing is magical. Wesley has learned that when Bradley is crying if he starts to sing "The Itsy Bisty Spider" he will stop. It works almost every time and I love it. It is so nice for me to have Wesley distract Brad for a minute before I can get to him. Wes also thinks it is pretty cool that he can make Brad so happy. He has also has fallen in love with a CD I got for him for Christmas, The Backyardigans:Born to Play. Well really, the whole family loves it. We find ourselves singing the songs all day long. Every time we get in the car we listen to it and have been since Christmas. It is really fun to be driving in the car and have everyone rocking out to the same music.

Happy Easter

To celebrate Easter we decorated eggs on Saturday Night and talked about Christ and his resurrection.

Sunday morning Wesley got to go and look for his and Bradley's Easter basket. At our house the Easter bunny hides the Easter baskets after filling them with treats and the colored eggs we made the night before.

Then we got them dressed for church in their matching dinosaur ties.

After Church we had dinner with some families in our ward. Then watched Wesley's new living scripture video about the life of Christ. It was a nice way to celebrate the the Savor and the atonement.

It's Orrins Turn

Orrin turned 28 on April 7th. Wesley and I had a fun time that day decorating and rapping presents. We even got to go pick Orrin up early from school to have more time to celebrate.

Our neighbors The frogs

Right outside our apartment building is a little dirty pond. We love to go out there and see what is living in there and lately we go to feed the two ducks that hang out there. But at night is when all the action starts. The frogs start croaking so loud that we can hear them from in the apartment. It sonds like there is a million of them but we have never seen any. As soon as someone gets close to the pond they stop.

Funny things Wes has said lately

On the way home from our trip to Seattle Wes asked if we are going home. We told him yes. He said "No not yet! I want to go to SEE ATTLE, I want to go see him".

We have been in the process of potty training Wes for a long time now. He has been getting a little better lately but still has a hard time with #2. But we always know when he goes #2 in his underwear because he says "Mom you need gloves".

We are very excited to have the rainy season come to a close. We hear that it will last a few more months but this last week we have had a few sunny days. On one day we went walking on one of the many walking trails they have here and Wes points up into the sky and asks "what is all that blue stuff". I guess it has been a while since we have see the blue sky.

Wesley's middle name is Orrin after his daddy. So when Wes tells other people his name he says "My name is Wesley Daddy Mackey". I always have to remind him its not daddy but Orrin.

Spring Break 2009

Monday
We were so excited to have Orrin home for a whole week we had to fill it up with fun and not waste a minute. On Monday we packed up and drove to Seattle. We first had lunch and walked around the Seattle Temple. Wes had fun chasing the birds around.

<
We then went to find my old apartment building. My parents used to manage it when I was 5 years old. I have so many memories of this apartment building, playing on the playground, picking berries in the back, playing with my friends next door and across the parking lot. It was really neat to be able to see it again. I even got to talk to the current manager and reminisce.

We then drove to down town Seattle to the Space Needle. They have lots of things to do around the space needle a few different museums, parks, and rides. We went to the children's science center because they were having a dollar entrance fee that day. Wes had lots of fun going through a maze, playing in a playhouse, checking out dinosaurs, playing with the water, and going in to a room with thousands of butterflys. Brad liked the butterfly room. Then, Wes and Orrin went up to the top of the space needle. When they got up there they called me and Wes just kept saying "we are so high, Wow we are high!!" I don't think he knew where they were going when they went into the elevator.

That night we went to the "flag ship" REI store. Its a huge REI store which is one of Orrin's favorite stores. They even have a resturant and a play center for the kids to play in. On the outside they have a trail that you have to walk up to get in and a river running through it. It was fun for Orrin and Wes to check out all the millions of bikes they had there.

Tuesday

On Tuesday we went down to the waterfront and first went to the Seattle Aquarium which was also having a dollar day. It was so packed but it was really fun to see all the things they had there

We then ate at Ivars and had the best fish and chips and a bread bowl with salmon chowder. So, So good but tons of calries. Brad really wanted some.

We then walked around the waterfront and checked out the famous Pikes Place Market. It has been in existance for 100 years and has 200 buisnesses, lots of street venders, and street performers. It was like going back in time. We even got to see the fish market were they are famous for throwing fish. We ate a sample of their smoked salmon which was so good but $29.99 a pound!

We then drove around before leaving to check out some places that are in a book we got for wes about Seattle called Larry Gets Lost in Seattle. Such as the man that hammers all the time and never stops except on labor day. Also the Fremont Troll with a real VW bug in his hand. Wes was so excited to see the Fremont Troll but when we got there he wouldn't get very close.

Wednesday and Thursday

On Wednesday and Thursday we planted a garden on our porch. We really wanted to have a garden here because you can grow so many cool things easily here in Portland. We planted strawberries, tomatoes, sweet peas, tulips, daises, and a calla lily. Can't wait until they grow fuit!! We also went to the park and an indoor play park.

Friday

On Friday we drove to the coast with some other 1st year dental students. We first went to the Tillamook Factory. Where they make cheese and ice cream. Wes had a blast checking out the factory workers making and packaging the cheese.

We then arrived at a beach house that some were staying at and then went to the beach. I think we were there not more than 20minutes because it was so cold but Wes got his fill. He has been asking for months if we could go to the beach. Then we hung out at the beach house and checked out the amazing view.

Brad was not the biggest fan of the beach it was really cold!!
