Pumpkin Patches

We love apple pie and Orrin has gotten really good at making them if I make and can the filling. So we wanted to pick some apples at Sauve Island farms and make a bunch of apple pie filling.
The kids love farms. Orrin and I talk about how fun it would be to live out in the country and have a farm.  Maybe when we are retired.

We filled two buckets. (It made a lot of pie filling)

It was also pumpkin season at the farm so they had there hay mazes and towers.

Wes made it to the top.

It was a weird season for  harvesting here in Portland they had corn and strawberries there too.

Brad found the strawberries and was chowing down on them

and the apples

and treats on the hayride.

Roloff Farms

We took a trip to Roloff Farms the next weekend. That is the same Roloff's from the show on TLC "Little People Big World".

They have a fun pumpkin patch each year too.  With lots of stuff for the kids to do.

We went the same day as the big civil war game between the Oregon  State (beavers) and U of Oregon (ducks). Everyone was in ducks or beaver gear and we thought it was funny Orrin was wearing his ASU shirt that day.

The western town. They filmed a lot of the show here.

We also were able to meet Amy Roloff (the mom).

She was so sweet to the kids and talked for a while to us.

It was funny that most of the people that came to the farm had no idea that they were on a reality show and were wondering why we want to take a picture with her. It really is a fun farm.

We love the pumpkin patches around were we live. They are almost always free (except the pumpkin) and the people are so friendly.
